How to Delete iPhone Text Messages (Photo Guide)
The instructions in this post were carried out on an iPhone 13 running iOS 16.4. The same methods apply to many other versions of iOS as well as most other iPhone models, including:

Step 1: On your iPhone, launch the Messages app.
Step 2: Navigate to the messaging conversation that contains the text message or iMessage you want to remove.
Step 3: Hold down the message you want to erase until a menu appears.
Step 4: From this menu, select the More option.
Step 5: To remove a text message, tap the circle to the left of it.
Each communication that you are deleting will have a blue circle with a check mark next to it.
Step 6: Once all of the messages have been selected, pick the trash can icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
Step 7: Confirm the deletion of the selected messages by tapping the Delete Messages icon.
