How to Put Apps in Alphabetical Order on iPhone 13

App management and organization can be a critical component in how useful your smartphone is. If you constantly have trouble finding your apps, then it might be time to learn how to put apps in alphabetical order on iPhone 13.

There are so many good and useful apps available in the App Store on your iPhone 13 that you will probably have dozens of them after having had your iPhone for a while.

While you may have already figured out how to put apps into folders or reorganize them, you may not want or need to apply that organization method to every app on the device.

Unfortunately, the way that the iPhone places new apps on the Home screen can make it difficult to find the apps that you need, and you might eventually be looking for a reset as a way to start over.

You can organize your iPhone apps alphabetically by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout > Reset Home Screen.

Now the first couple of Home screens will include all of the default iPhone apps, followed by all of our installed third-party apps in alphabetical order.

Our tutorial below provides additional information on this quick method for rearranging your iPhone apps, as well as some additional information on the various reset options on the device.

More Information on How to Sort iPhone Apps Alphabetically

As we mentioned above, using the steps in this article to sort your apps automatically will only put the non-default apps in alphabetical order. The default apps (the ones that were on your iPhone when you bought it) are put into a different order at the beginning of the Home screen; then, the other apps come after those.

While this alphabetical sorting is useful, it doesn’t keep things sorted alphabetically each time you add a new app. So you will need to complete these steps again every time you remove or add a new app.

One better way to find apps is to swipe down on the Home screen, then type the name of the app into the search field and launch it that way. This is called “Spotlight Search” and is a really useful tool when you need to find apps, files, or other information on your device.

When you touch the Reset button before you elect to reset the Home screen, there are a number of other options there, including:

  • Reset All Settings
  • Reset Network Settings
  • Reset Keyboard Dictionary
  • Reset Home Screen Layout
  • Reset Location & Privacy

Additionally, it’s good to know about the Erase All Content and Settings button on this menu as well. if you are trading in your iPhone or selling it to someone, then you will need to go in here as part of the process of resetting the iPhone and removing all of your personal information.

While this article focuses on how to alphabetize apps, we also mention arranging app icons and creating app folders as a way that you can organize your apps. You can do this by tapping and holding on an app icon, then choosing the Edit Home Screen option.

This will make all the apps shake, and some will have an “x” on them that you could use to delete the app. But if you tap and hold on the app you can drag it to another location. If you drag one app icon on top of another, it will create a folder where you can group multiple apps into one location.

Your iPhone will automatically update your App Library when you download apps on your device. The App Library is accessible by swiping to the left repeatedly until you get to the last Home screen. Here you will find all of your apps organized into different folders, which your iPhone automatically creates based on the type of app it is.
