How to Disable the iPhone Text Message Sound (With Pictures)
The instructions in this post were carried out using an iPhone 14 Plus running iOS 16.6.
These methods are also applicable to many other versions of iOS and iPhone models, including the following:
- iPhone 14
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
Step 1: On your Home screen, locate the Settings icon and tap it to access the menu.
Step 2: Scroll down and select Notifications.
Step 3: Scroll down and select Messages from the list of available apps.
Step 4: Go to the Sounds tab.
Step 5: Scroll to the tone list section and select None.
You’ll be able to use your phone and receive text messages and iMessages without hearing that notification sound every time now that you know how to silence text notifications on iPhone 14.
You may alternatively choose the Vibration option at the top of the Sounds page and select the None option if you don’t want your phone to vibrate when they arrive.
There are also some other notification settings on this menu that you might decide to adjust as well.
For example, you could turn the Badges option on or off based on whether or not you would like to see the red circle with the white number that appears on the Messages app when you have an unread message.
You could also select the Customize Notifications option at the bottom of the menu and change the setting for repeat alerts, or you could choose to block notifications from unknown senders.
