How to Delete Text Messages on a Google Pixel 4A (Guide with Pictures)

The steps in this article were performed on a Google Pixel 4A in the Android 11 operating system.

Step 1: Open the Messages app.

Step 2: Tap and hold on to the text message conversation that you want to delete.

Step 3: Touch the trash can icon at the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 4: Tap the Delete button to confirm that you want to delete the text message conversation from your device.

Once you complete the steps above to delete one of the text message conversations from your phone, that conversation will be gone forever. You won’t be able to get it back.

After you tap and hold on to the conversation you want to delete, you will be able to select other conversations you would like to delete. To do this, you simply need to tap on that conversation to select it. Once all of the multiple conversations you want to delete are selected, you can tap the trash can icon.

In addition to the trash can icon, some other icons are at the top of the screen when conversations are selected. If you tap the pin icon, it will pin the conversation to the top of the message inbox. The conversation will be archived if you touch the square with the down arrow on it.

The circle with the diagonal line through it lets you block a conversation and report it as spam.

You can access archived text messages by touching the three dots at the top-right corner of the Messages screen, then choosing the Archived option.
