Since the main way to interact with your Google Pixel 4A smartphone is by touching the screen, it’s fairly important that it’s the correct level of responsiveness.
Working with a phone that doesn’t properly respond to your touch can be very frustrating, to the point that you will probably even consider getting a new device.
While the quality of the screen on the Google Pixel 4A is quite good, it’s possible that it’s still not as sensitive as you would like it to be. Or perhaps you have added a screen protector and are having trouble getting it to respond to screen taps.
You can increase the sensitivity on your Google Pixel 4A by going to Settings > Display > Advanced > Increase touch sensitivity.
By increasing the sensitivity of the device you should find that you don’t need to press on the screen as hard, and you should reduce the number of times that you need to repeat a screen touch because it didn’t register the first one.
Our guide below provides additional information on making the Pixel 4A screen more responsive.

How to Lower or Raise Touch Sensitivity on Pixel 4A (Guide with Pictures)

Step 1: Swipe up on the Home screen to open the app list.
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of this menu and select the Settings option.
Step 3: Tap the Display menu section.
Step 4: Select Advanced to expand that set of settings.
Step 5: Tap the button to the right of Increase touch sensitivity.
Since this setting is meant to help improve the screen responsiveness when you are using a screen protector, it should be fairly noticeable if you aren’t using a protector and just want the screen to respond better to your touch.

If you are looking for a comparable iPhone increase touch sensitivity method, you can find it by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > 3D & Haptic Touch. There you will be able to adjust the sensitivity for 3D Touch, or you will be able to chose a touch duration for haptic touch.
After you change the sensitivity of your touch screen you will likely notice that the screen is much more responsive if you increased touch sensitivity, or you will find that it is much less responsive when you lower it.
This change is to be expected and was the goal of making this change. However, it is noticeable for a little while, as you become accustomed to the way your phone behaves.
You likely chose to reduce or increase the touch sensitivity for a reason, so it can take some time before it starts to feel comfortable or natural.
Note that there are a number of other settings on the Advanced menu that you can adjust as well. These include:
- Screen timeout
- Screen attention
- Auto-rotate screen
- Colors
- Font size
- Display size
- Screen saver
- Lock screen
While these are not very related to the sensitivity of the touch screen, they are useful settings that you may want to change at some point in the future.
